HEROES OF THE MOMENT
Andy Fell rasies £14k + for KidsCharities UK
Heartfelt thanks must go to Andy Fell, one of KidsCharites' staunchest supporters. Andy ran the Edinburgh Marathon in May - and, as usual, gave it his 'all'.
With the amazing support of Audrey White, Andy organised sponsorship for his race and spent many an hour training for the big day.
With his family on the sidelines to watch, Andy crossed the finishing line - exhausted, but still fired up - and thrilled to have accomplished it!
On May 25th at 7.55am Andy sent me a text saying he was 'nervous, but ready'. At 14.24 that afternoon, he simply texted 'whipeee!'
On June 1st, Andy was out on the Edinburgh roads again - training for his next charity marathon.
Andy - you are a star - the charity CHAS will be beneficiaries via KidsCharities UK. Thank you so much for all you have done - and continue to do for us. You have made a huge difference!
Andy Fell – our local hero!!!
KidsCharities supporter Andy Fell has a true passion for whatever he does! He drives
his business within RBS with energy and pace, always ensuring that people are
continually raising the bar to achieve success.
Last year Andy took it on himself to organise as many Royal Bank of Scotland Corporate ducks as he could for our duck race. In fact the winning duck was sponsored by his wife Leona, from Tesco Personal Finance …and is testimony to the fact that Andy’s ducks way outnumbered every other sponsor! Thanks to Andy, we handed over £32,000 to the Variety Club for two Sunshine Coaches.
Last year, he shared one of his goals with us at
KidsCharitiesUK
That goal was to run marathons in three different cities around the world by
the 1 January 2010, raising £20K for the charity in the process. Like
Forrest Gump he'll continue running until he does it!
The first of these "Marathon Events" will take place on Sunday 25th May in
Edinburgh. Andy is looking for your support in sponsoring him for this
event - with all funds to be donated to CHAS (Children's Hospice Association
Scotland) through KidsCharitiesUK.
Andy – thank you so much!! KidsCharities would not be in the place it is today without your generous support of time, money and incredible energy!!!!
Please log on to Andy’s and help him achieve his goal!!

A special friend and strong supporter of KidsCharities UK is Middle of the Road singer Sally Carr.
In April Sally is "walking the wall" in China for KidsCharities UK. One of the charities to benefit will be the "Wish Upon A Star" foundation.
The walk was a personal dream she shared with her son, Keith. As Keith is no longer here, Sally will be making the journey with her niece and two friends.
Sally is financing the trip herself, to ensure as much money as possible will be going to the kids we are supporting.
Her goal is to raise £20,000. She has been training very hard and leaves the UK on the 10th April.
You can help support Sally by clicking here.
Sally - you are an inspiration and we wish you well for your trip!

We are delighted to introduce our youngest hero - 7 year old Sam Elliott. Sam had a birthday recently and instead of asking for presents, she asked for foreign money and old mobile phones to help the Blue Peter Appeal. Some of her friends also gave Sam money for her birthday so she could treat herself to something.
Instead, Sam sent the money directly to KidsCharities UK and has asked that the £140 be split between ChildLine and Barnardos, so it can help children who need it more than her.
On behalf of the young people you are helping, thankyou so much.
What a special young lady you are!

Volunteer Avril McGinlay has organised a Girls' Night Out on February 24th, 2006 at 8pm. As well as offering to help in the run up to our Blast From The Past event, Avril took it upon herself to book Pollokshaws Burgh Hall in Glasgow. She then booked a comedienne and a DJ, and is now on the lookout for sponsors.
We are expecting 250 ladies to come along and join us in an evening of fun for charity.
The benefitting charity will be Ashcraig House, which helps children who are physically disadvantaged. The mother of one of our volunteers gave up the last few years of her life to teaching art to the children in Ashcraig.
KidsCharities feels this is a fitting tribute to the work she started. Anyone interested in coming along to, or becoming a sponsor of this event should contact Avril at avril@kidscharities.org.uk

Early in 2005 we were contacted by Michelle Charles, a chef and catering manager with one of the UK's largest companies. She told us she wanted to help KidsCharities UK and was considering putting together a Recipe Book containing favourite recipes that belong to celebrities. She went ahead on her own and is making it happen.
Several months down the road, she has collected numerous recipes from top household names and is running bake-a-thons and fundraisers to help.
She is full of enthusiasm for the project and for KidsCharities UK.
If anyone knows a celebrity who may want to contribute, please let us know.
In the meantime, thank you Michelle, you are an inspiration!!

April 2005 sees the fruits of Blast From the Past by way of a cheque being handed to UNICEF for £32,000. KidsCharities sends heartfelt thanks to all our fabulous sponsors.
You keep our charity wheels turning and help us to make sure that we can hand over as much money as possible to the children we are supporting.
Huge thanks must go to Ally McKever of The McKever Group for investing such a generous amount towards our concert costs. Your enthusiasm for the work we do has been amazing.
Thanks also to Real Radio, SECC, City Inn and Taggarts for providing your services as sponsorship for Blast From The Past.
To all our sponsors, friends, supporters and paying guests-you have realised our dream.
32,000 thanks to you all!!
Looking forward to next year.....

This month’s hero is Rangers Football Club, who chose KidsCharities as their nominated charity at the prestigious Glasgow Rangers / Aberdeen football match on October 31st at Ibrox Stadium.

Hallowe’en … a cold, crisp day in Scotland … warmed up considerably by the 28 KidsCharities supporters who, with little more than their KC t-shirts to keep them warm, turned out in force at the Ibrox Football Gates, buckets in hand!
The money will be going to 'National Children's Deaf Charity', based here in the UK. We will have the pictures of the presentation of the cheque to the kids onsite as soon as it has taken place!
Thanks to you all - we managed to raise approximately £1,400 in our buckets in just over an hour. Many thanks to Michelle at the Rangers Charity Foundation for co-ordinating the event …special thanks to Adele for your support of the charity both at Blast From The Past and at Ibrox … and thanks also to Michael for the supply of Walkers crisps which kept us all going!!!
